Not unexpected TBH,
Rebore and rockers is pretty normal but pricey,
Bike is looking like this now,
I’ll remove the rest of the stuff that needs powder but the forks can stay put.
It needs to have the frame geometry checked etc.
The rest of it can go up to the workshop for restoration.

New rockers, and a rebore/plating ???

Ouch.

Have you ever tried stelliting the rockers?
Not heard the term before?
At the end of the day these motors are not overly expensive to obtain parts for.
Also when restored they are still a good investment and within the realms of normal peeps,
Unlike Vincent’s etc, where an engine rebuild would be into tens of thousands.
I’d hate to finance a rebuild on a CB1100R or RC30 that would make your wallet shrink:comfort

I know what you mean about Vincent's I've got 2 in bits at the moment.
A Comet for a gearbox re-build (new parts don't exist for the Burman gearbox)
A Rapide I'm building for a big Euro tour next year if it happens.

I can get bespoke 1 off pistons from Wossner in the USA for about $100 all in (Forged alloy pistons to my spec's)

Stelliting is a means of welding on a high strength material usually on cams and followers as a means of reclaiming worn surfaces. usually in Type A and Type B. Mistacat could easily Tig Type A onto the worn follower and then regrind it back to shape, or even re-profile to a better radius for better wear.

Got it,
I’m always a bit reluctant to go down this route,
Probably goes back to 80’s metal spraying etc.
Always seemed to end in tears,
I’ll fit new rockers,
Quote,Guy Martin ,if it ain’t right,it’s just wrong.:thumb

Looks like those “racers” that had it for a while after Peter passed away, then returned it really knew there stuff Mike
