With black fasteners. Unfortunately, the black P-clips were slightly too small, so if I was going to keep this mod, I'd paint the existing ones.

I'll take a look at it outside tomorrow and decide

I have the rs not the r and find most the crud goes onto my trousers and legs. I have the same hugger as you but have added a pair of cheapo Chinese frame bags, these stop quite a lot there. They were £28.79 !

Could you make the panels bigger so the P clips are hidden behind the panel? You would then only see the head of the fixing bolt.

I'm in the camp of take the rails off until you need to use them, its really quick, 4 bolts. And the back end looks much cleaner, and shows off the hugger better, with the rails off. Have stored mine in the garage ready for use, on those odd occasions. I do praise your creativity / ingenuity we all need a healthy distraction at the moment.
