Evening

I want to treat the INSIDE of an old Bicycle frame with rust removal stuff - ideally pour it in and swish it about etc.,

Any recommendations - (stuff to treat inside of petrol tanks)

or do I just use WD40 and treat it every year?

what do you guys think

I find 'Evaporust' quite good. Around £35.00 for 5 litres on e-bay.

I soaked a couple of large lathe chucks in the stuff in a 40-gallon drum (15 litres in the bottom - not 40 galls ;)) they came out all shiny (big, 16" dia jobs for my Colchester Triumph). I also use it for smaller items. It becomes less effective with use as the active ingredients get used up, meaning a longer soak.

If you wipe the item clean rather than wash it off it provides a protective coating.

I believe 'POR Metal Prep' is similar.

Bob.

Plug the holes up and put in some diluted phosphoric acid, leave it for a fortnight then drain it out.

DOnt forget about it like I did though,

One R80G/s swingarm mostly dissolved,

I would fill with evaporate, leave a couple of days then wash it out, dry and then something like acf50, pour a load in and continually turn the bike until everything’s covered.
