2021 1290S

Not bad price considering.

Thing with KTM's, GS's, you feel like you could drop it, pick it up and carry on.

I never felt that way with the Multistrada. Sure I would still feel that way if I go ahead with the new Multi. Not a bike to be dropped, or off-roaded either in my view. But lets face it, 95+% of 1290's & 1250's stay on the tarmac. 990adv's? I reckon loads of those went off road and a few 1190's too. I think if you want off road ability you choose a 790/890R and it would be easlily as good an all round adventure bike as the 990 and way better off road.

Yeah, thats a LOT cheaper than the Multi. But the Multi does have a V4 - not like you're paying extra for nothing.

Yup.
That V4 engine is stunning . Ok, I know the engine in the Streetfighter is different to the Multi, but it had so much character and grunt .
I actually found my 1290R a bit bland, which is why I sold it and got an ATAS.

Basic Duc V4 with similar spec to the 1290 above (cruise control instead of adaptive CC).

Edit. Actually I think I got that wrong as I believe the standard V4 doesn't have adaptive suspension?

Looks better with the riders seat set on the high position, less in and more on :thumb2

I’d like to “own” a multi one day. I really like the look of V4, but reports of poor (comparative to other bikes it competes against) fuel economy is somewhat off putting.

I really should take a demo Ducati out this year, it’ll be my first experience on one other than sitting on one at the bike show and even that was donkeys years ago.

What I would like to know is if the updates to the 1290 Superduke engine have been applied to the adventure. The Superduke fueling is very good.

Secondly, I'd like to know if it's compulsory to sit on the pillion seat to get the front wheel up or whether that guy in the photo is just very small. :D

Have to say, it's growing on me slowly. Eeeek.

We should have a guess how much that silencer weighs. I'm guessing circa 12 tons.

Thanks, I asked because it looks like it's the size of the original 1290 SA with the 30ltr tank.

S20 5G sent this......

The bike should feel less top heavy as it using low slung “saddlebag” type of fuel cell, similar to the one on 790/890ADV. So naturally COG will be lower compared to original 1290SAT or the outgoing SAS/R

That may well make a HUGE difference , as the balance of the 790 Adv was brilliant...

It would look even better with the Touratech KTM panniers also as those bins looks crap

News this evening suggesting "lockdown" (WF Lockdown?) will last till March, so test rides are out the question until then. Be good to compare it back to back with my lump.

Does look like ADV style rack are available to purchase from PP options list and I see no reason why TT Zega tins wouldn't be available just like they have been for a few years now.
