Is that 1st photo a campsite in Potes?

If not it’s the spit of a campsite me and wifey stayed at when touring in the Boxster a few years ago.

I’d like to see that mapped on google earth so it was easier to see on my iPad :D

Stayed at that site in your first photo, but can't remember where it was :blast:D

Thanks for posting :thumb2

Thank you very much for your comments, I hope you too enjoyed your visit. :)

You'll no doubt now recall:

First photo: Camping Valle de Bujaruelo, Torla-Ordesa, Huesca, Spain. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Camping+Valle+de+Bujaruelo/@42.6771261,-0.1234944,17z/data=!4m16!1m7!3m6!1s0xd57f97ff7df695b:0x71c631ca26f2301c!2s22376+Torla-Ordesa,+Huesca,+Spain!3b1!8m2!3d42.6286775!4d-0.1126542!3m7!1s0xd57f981cf0c7313:0x5628c71e40778cd0!5m2!4m1!1i2!8m2!3d42.6772608!4d-0.1238532
Because it's centrally located in the Ordesa Y Monte Perdido National Park, the location and venue is superb; that's why I've stayed on very many occasions.
However, for anyone else who may wish to visit this campsite, please be forewarned:
a) From Ordesa, leave the main road and continue up the valley via the (often) dusty unpaved gravel road, there's also water crossing for added amusement! After about 10 minutes you'll reach the campsite;
b) The site is very busy in the high season. However, if you continue up the valley, there are further additional rural campsites;
c) Access to the multitude of (flat) grassed camping terraces is via a steep, narrow, paved road, with tight blind hairpin bends. This is further exacerbated when traffic is leaving their designated pitches, you MUST ensure the entire road is clear before you commit and start your run to the top;
d) The views are absolutely stunning and the restaurant cuisine is rustic, delicious and excellent value. :)

The second and fourth photos: Valle de Bujaruelo, Ordesa Y Monte Perdido National Park, Spain.

That would be brilliant, thank you :thumb

Here you are:

I opened up OddJob’s files, cut all the tracks into one file and asked BaseCamp on my MacBook to join them together, which it did very smoothly.

The .GPX file of the joined together tracks does work. Here it is displayed using nothing more than my iPad and the Pocket Earth Pro app....

ae57bb78a7b464a57f83d6f2d27bb098.png

PS I asked my MacBook to convert the joined together tracks into a route. It will do it but it’s a very slow process and might melt its little brain. I don’t think anyone (with any sense, at least) would ever try to load a full, 4,500 plus mile route in one go anyway.

PPS My apologies, I spelled Oddjob incorrectly.

PPPS Oddjob creates routes the same way I do; so full marks there.

PPPPS I did all this in BaseCamp. It shows it is not a monster and that it does work.

A really good report from Oddjob, with lots of useful additional information, hints and tips.

Thank you.

Richard

Yes, that's the one. And agree about the restaurant, excellent indeed. :thumb2

Must go back soon, thanks again for the routes :)

No problem. Hope you get to use them.

It works brilliantly!

I’ve added this little 41 mile section of lovely wilderness for anyone that finds themselves that way in the future.

The road starts smooth, but goes very patchy as it goes on, great on an Adv style bike. Stunning ride that follows a reservoir for miles. Narrow, unpopulated and just beautiful.

Excellent, thank you.

Good use of the Travel section, building on oddjob’s original post.

I find Pocket Earth the most reliable of visualisers of GPX routes, providing that is the original file was created accurately. That being said, the worse that happens is that you get some straight lines. A little imagination as to what roads the straight lines take is all that is usually required to sort it out. I use it a lot on my large iPad.

Thanks very much Richard and all whom have contributed to this tread. :thumb2

Unfortunately, I'm still endeavouring to successfully create a Flickr account for sharing photographs. Once resolved by Flickr, I'll commence uploading pic's and will provide a link to this thread.

I'll then subsequently post new threads from my previous tours, together with links. They're all good to go, however I anticipate I'll post once a week.

As with this thread, I'll include:

a) Map overview - I'll continue to utilise BaseCamp and the Snipping Tool to create a .png;
b) Itinerary - I'll continue to utilise documentcloud.adobe.com;
c) Garmin .gpx route files - I'll continue to utilise Dropbox;
d) Pictures - Some interesting pic's will be imbedded into the new threads. However, I'll mostly utilise Flickr (when they resolve matters).

Bye for now :)
Jan.
