1290 Super Adventure R

yes - even mine. Had 950 and 990 Adventures, and a 1200 Triumph Scrambler, all with 21 inch fronts

21” front is not a problem
It’s all in people’s heads

Particularly the folk at BMW who have not put a 21" front wheel in a boxer GS since the last of the air heads ;)

I know that a 19" wheel set up works best for me and the way I tend to ride - others prefer a 21" - nice that KTM at least give folks the choice :beerjug:

......or basically you can get the S for about £15.5k with heated grips and quick shifter and have a similar spec to a 1200GS TE but with the radar cruise control (if that's you thing) - so about £2k better value ;)

Cheaper doesn’t = better value though does it ......if it did then you should be suggesting the 1050XT next :D

It looked better in the flesh too !
The blue paint in particular is stunning .
I’ve got a mate who’s getting one but he’ll sell it before summers out so I may just try his and possibly get it off him , assuming it’s better than the previous bike .
I think the pannier tanks will be the main benefit , as the 790 Adv had great balance and poise with such a low c of g .
Will make do with this for now

.

I don’t think they look too bad at all .....do they do it in electric ? :p

...........on that basis that would make a Goldwing a better bike than a GS simply because it is more expensive ;)

KTM's 1290 SAS just happens to be better value than the current GS and IMO is also a better bike. Other opinions are available :beerjug:

I'm loving my 2021 SAS, after owning several GS/GSA this is a different league. Its not faultless but boy its fun.
Build quality different level to a GS.

Nice pic. Looks proper.

You don't see the white rear frame with panniers on. So if one ignored the frame colour the change to R colours from the grey S doesn't seem so bad.

My choice would still be the S though. The anti-dive alone makes it the one to have for 98% of peeps. 95% maybe.

Or maybe don't ride along with the rear brake on!

Probably same disc that KTM have fitted to thousands of bikes over the years and we don't see this issue reported, so unless they have gone and sourced a cheaper piece of chinese shit for the 2021 bike I would guess its just down to abuse by the nobhead riding the bike with the brake on.

The series of four short Rapid videos we shot, required riding really close to a camera car. Like really close! Just when you think you're close enough the camera guy would gesture to you ... 'another foot or so ..' to keep you in the frame of the camera. You've just got to trust the guy driving that he won't suddenly come off the gas (let alone brake!).
But i've got to say .. i didn't need to drag my brake to do that ??! ... :thumb2
