GS310 delivered today

Hi Gordyman, Yes I looked at a number of bikes , but the main issue was the seat height .the crf is 875mm ,the 310 835. The BM has more power, not that there is a lot ,but it goes well on the road.If my legs were longer then I would have considered the Honda.Being able to reach the floor does make off road riding less stressful.Tyre sizes for the BM is restrictive ,but the Anlas Capras are surprisingly good.

Ah right yep makes sense :thumb

Apologise for not being in touch for so long, but took the gs out for a very hard ride, and whilst trying to navigate Violets Lane in Hert's the standard clutch burnt itself out. There was no adjustment left in the cable, and I only just got home.Have fitted the rally raid stage two suspension mods which help control the bouncing around . Even so I have destroyed one number plate . Have strengthened the R&G tail tidy to see if that helps.Had to remove the dominator exhaust because it was in the area needed for the rear shock reservoir. This will be for sale soon , but it was very loud.Have now fitted the rally raid exhaust. Nice noise, and the neighbours won't hate me as much.Have also fitted what I hope are better brake pads to give the rear a bit more bite.
The reason it has been so long before I got the bike back on the road is waiting for the Reckluse clutch to turn up. It eventually got here last week so over the weekend I fitted it to the gs.At the moment I have broken the plates in as specified by reckluse, and the bike is now in the garage waiting for it's first run off road. This will be Sat 21 or Sunday 22 this month as I will be away next week.

will be up for a run around the lanes next weekend .

I take my bog stock G310GS out on Salisbury Plain and it copes fine for me. I do ride it gently though - nice to get out in the middle of nowhere.

The Last Post Maybe

Had this bike for a while now, and have enjoyed every moment. Especially the Baja at Sweet Lamb. Well worth going if you get the chance.Only two GS310 there myself, and Halfpint who got a first in our group. The Anlass Capras have faired really well in the dry, but wet grass or slippery clay / mud entertaining to say the least. On the road excellent wet or dry.
Unfortunately it is time to part with the GS so it has been turned back into a mostly standard form ,but retaining some of the upgrades.
Some of the Rally Raid kit will be sold separately in the near future. One of the badge panels at the front of the bike got broken at sweet lamb, and when it is sprayed the bike will also be sold.
Have had a broken fibula since a hit, and run in July 2019 .The NHS are still saying there is a 12 months wait for an operation so going private with the same specialist I am under at the NHS., but this needs paying for so the bike has to go until my leg is better.
Will post up the items for sale soon. Cheers guy

sad to hear no more 310 old men . let me know about the parts as another mate has just pick up a 310 thanks

Leg repaired . In recovery

Hi every one,
Had my leg operated on at last , end November 2022. So far all looks good except the muscles have deteriorated over the past three months, and now need training, physio to get the strength back.

Bike did not seem last year before the op so will still be available in the near future. Just had mot, and new chain, and sprocket fitted last year . Has done no mileage since fitted apart from trip for mot.

Have two exhausts for sale ( rally raid scorpion, and dominator high level ) other rally raid parts as well which I will list on here soon.

Rally Raid suspension kit has already gone to a good home.

Cheers, Guy

GS310G

This bike has now been sold.
Have really enjoyed this bike over the last two years, and with a few mods is quite capable , and even managed the second fastest lap in its group at sweet lamb. Half pint got the fastest lap.:)

On reflection the rally raid suspension was excellent . The spoked wheels look good ,but are unnecessary. The engine guard worked brilliantly, and any other crash protection is only bling. My bike had fallen over plenty of times in all conditions ,and did not suffer any damage to the bodywork.Fitting the fat bars meant bent bars were a thing of the past, and were much more comfortable to ride with.

This is a well put together machine with minor issues due to cheap build.Nothing that cannot be remedied with aftermarket parts.

If the differences between this and the r model were only cosmetic I would have preferred the r model as the styling to match the larger GS's is just a styling exercise.

Does not stop this being a very good ,capable machine, and up to 80mpg....

Nothing yet as there are a few choices, and I need to get back to work full time to be able to justify the next purchase. I keep being drawn to a lighter bike as it becomes very tiring to pick up a heavy bike after 3 or 4 drops.

66 and soon to be 67 so I don't have time to keep faffing with different bikes, but I also don't want to be riding gravel roads all day. Our weekend at Sweet Lamb was a lot of fun.

That riding without the racing would be better. Having short inside leg has it's draw backs. The cheapest option as a ride away bike is the Beta X Trainer. everything else needs money spent to make it fit me or be usable..

Choices ,choices..

How are you getting on with the RR suspension ?

still not had the chance to try it out to the max . feels better on the road not so skittish, have to visit thetford for a full report . playing with road bikes at present in the shed .
