My old driver drill lost any ability to work reliably, so I invested in a Makita 18 volt version. It’s unreliable working was not helped that I had dropped it about 10 foot onto a concrete floor, I must confess.

The Makita is a top device. Well made. Handles nicely and above all, will probably not leaving me cursing something that I had myself broken. OK, you are probably not going to hammer drill your way through miles of concrete with it but for ‘every day’ use it is excellent.

Can’t fault makita kit. I have quite a collection, plus a good selection of batteries too. Generally only use 1.5amp batteries day to day, but have 3,4 and 5 amp for the bigger tools like my sds drill and reciprocating saw. The 1.5s are nice and light and working in customers houses most of the time its not an issue if I need to stick them on charge.

Quite possibly my next purchase

Switched to Makita a couple of years ago, will need to getting some more batteries as I have bought bare mini router and 165mm saw - both brushless
