...So I wanted to know what it was, as I can`t remember and was looking for other quotes, this is the response from bemoto....

First response-

"Hi,

Thanks for your email. Unfortunately, I am unable to send you your No Claims Proof until the policy has lapsed - however, your No Claims will also be on your renewal invite.

Regards,
Tanita"

Second response after I told them I will go to the relevant authorities as to withhold this information from me is just clearly wrong as it prevents me from asking for other quotes -

"Morning David,

We normally can't send no claims proof out till the policy lapses, as no claims can only be used by one insurer at a time.

I have done you a no claims proof but it does state that your insurance with us is still in force.

Kind Regards,
Amy"

And after two years with them they are not getting my business again, sharp practice in my opinion and I am one extremely dissatisfied customer, I hate nothing more than lies....Well, apart from humans that are breathing.

If they weren't breathing, they'd never be able to tell you what NCD you had. :D :augie

Took out insurance with the same broker you talk of (21 days before the old policy with CN expires and paid for in full) as part of the cover they require me to provide them (Bemoto) with proof of no claims from my current insurer within 14 days , CN will not give me proof of no claims until my old policy expires which is 7 days after before the old policy with CN expires BUT 7 days before the new one with Bemoto starts ..

Bit of a catch 22 situation but clearly double standards by Bemoto

They are all the same, thankfully the last time I get to do this....I really did consider just selling up the bikes for this last few months because insurance companies are such a pain in the arse, but I feel there is an agenda to get us off the road, so they can all fuck off.

I've recently changed from Hastings to IAM Surity and they wanted proof of NCD within 14 days of when the policy starts, not when I paid for it which like yourself was several weeks before the policy started so I didn't suffer the same problem. Hastings provided proof via email the day my old policy expired and an confirmation what it would be with their original renewal email.

Funny that, when I renewed my Insurance last time, my new company said they didn't need my proof of NCB. It was the same with my car, didn't need the proof. Wonder if they are all talking to each other nowadays?

It varies and changes.

In the past Hastings have asked for proof of NCD. Just took out a new policy starting on 2nd June for one of the bikes. Nothing in the "welcome" letter asking for NCD proof.

Not had this before. Was this something said by a call centre person or in the documentation? Any term of the policy such as proving NCD can only apply from the date of the policy and the wording in an acceptance letter requesting proof of NCD has always stated, "provide proof within x days of the policy commencing."

Further, I have a policy on the other bike, bought via Bemoto, starting on 25th May. The letter emailed to me states:
If we have not received proof within 7 days after your policy has started, we will amend your details and assume that none is available. This may result in us either having to cancel your policy or increasing your premium. We will charge a non-validation fee in this circumstance.

So, maybe you need to re-read your documents before you issue summary judgement on Bemoto. Like you, I have yet to have my NCD proof sent by CNash as they no longer routinely supply it with the renewal paperwork. I have the renewal from Devitt for another policy expiring next month, and this does have proof of NCD within. A strange world.

Too hard to find the confirmation email and check the documents within?

NCD is stated on your current policy, so it's whatever it says plus a year (or part year).

NCD is also stated on your renewal invitation.

So, if you want a quote from whoever prior to renewal, look at your current policy and you have the info needed. Then, if you go with new company, cancel previous, who will send NCD and forward to new, who usually require proof within 30 days or so.

Many allow access to that document online, but it's there if you aren't lazy. No need to rely on anyone but yourself.

Nearly. A number of brokers are not including proof of NCD on renewal quotes. You might have to request this, look in your online account or wait until the policy lapses before they will send this. A cynic might say they are hoping this creates additional inertia with punters to deter looking for alternative quotes. On the other hand, they may not wish to evidence no claims until such point as their liability ends (or reduces, as technically, their liability never ends as someone can make a third party claim long after expiry, for an incident in the insured period).

Nearly :D

A broker should issue various documents to maintain compliance, of which at least one will detail your NCD.

You should have it somewhere within your previous years pack, so you simply need to keep/save that.

You miss the point.

The renewal notice issued to me by C Nash in the last few weeks says: last year's premium £x, this year we can offer £y based on your details remaining the same. No mention of what NCD I am entitled to.

I was quibbling your statement, "NCD is also stated on your renewal invitation" which is not always the case.

I am not quibbling anything else in your post, especially that the OP should be more self reliant and have the faculty to look at existing documents as implied in my post #9. Especially as he posts almost every day that the whole of humanity is useless and he is apparently fúcking off to a mountain to isolate himself from any human interaction.

Insurance company's are hardly likely to issue a NCB notice on a policy that is currently in force. You may have a claim on the very last day of the policy when Mrs Miggins pulls out of a junction in front of you. Then, the NCB notice would be void. When I've asked for proof I've nearly always been told its in the renewal documents, and it has been.

Got it, apologies.

I have used a household name for a fews years on a tough to insure car and this time I received a 27% price hike, reduced by pennies when challenged.

In the interim I picked up an SP30 (first for years) so thought it was my fault.

Hate ringing round a million companies, so had a go on a couple of comparison sites and then went to a specialist broker who get me close to last years premium and reckons that should fall if I stay 'out of trouble', as it's the SP30 within the last 12 months which causes a problem.
