Update 3

Managed to get the rear end sorted. Worst job is bolting up the prop to the gearbox, followed by fitting diode board mounts. Thanks to Gerry, who called in, for pointing out that I haven’t fitted the fuel line below the airbox.

Gosh! I’d NEVER have done that! :augie

Outstanding detail on this build (as always) Colin. :bow

Thanks for the tool hire.

I only spotted the missing fuel line as I had replaced mine recently on the G/S.

I am surprised the keen eyed purists (critics) on here had not spotted it on the photos. :D

I once had an R100CS. Bought it from the police, can’t remember if it was the Met or Kent force. It was obviously an undercover bike as it had been fitted with an RT fairing, all in genuine BMW black paint. Didn’t have many miles on it. Cost me £350 at the auction, around 1989/90. The gearbox came in a separate box, in pieces ... rebuilt the box, used the bike a year then sold it, still with the RT fairing fitted.

Update 4

Got the bits back from the platers and the final delivery from Motorworks today. Mikey has the tyres and freshly painted wheels so will pick them up tomoz. I have a feeling I’m going to be waiting for the paint as Dream Machine seem to be busy.
I’m fussing over the centre stand, the original one is not great, so I may take the plunge and get a new one from Motobins. The budget is blown.......again.

Update 6

A bit of electrical fault finding yesterday. Thought I would test the electrics, so I connected the battery. Not a great result, immediate short circuit. Couldn’t face it yesterday, so started with a clear head this morning. My initial thought was the starter and relay, but no that was OK. Next step was to check my wiring around the DB and front cover. Something I didn’t know was that the lower mounts on the DB are insulated, the top ones go to ground. Bearing in mind I replaced the rubber mounts to solid ones. However, one of the lower mounts on the BD was missing the insulating insert, so my solid mount sent it straight to ground. That little job took about two hours. Any hoo it’s fixed now. Every day is a school day.

Update ...lost count

I did all of the fluids today, set the valves and end play. The front wheel is in so I can at least move it out of the way while I’m waiting for the paint. Popped over to Gary Bs last week to return a tool he had very kindly loaned me. Had a look at his lovely CS just to make sure I had things right. My rider foot rest brackets are the wrong ones, so they will be changed pronto. Other than that it measured up ok.

I have the paint...

I had to take the CS off the ramp as I had to get to work on another bike. Obviously as soon as I had done that, I received a call to say the paint was ready. Dream Machine have excelled themselves again. I dropped the tank on just to have a look see.
Once I can get it back on the ramp I will eventually get the thing finished.

Wow Colin.

The paintwork is stunning :bow

Nice surprise as you were expecting a few more weeks when I asked this morning. :thumby:

It must be winter again…

The CS has been languishing in the garage unfinished for a while. It seems wrong to be working on the bikes when you can be out riding them. So the weather has definitely changed and the CS is back on the ramp.
I’ve had a really good look around the bike and I’ve decided to go all in. The refurbished parts that aren’t quite right will be swapped out for new ones; a couple of the indicator housings were marked, the screen is the wrong colour, grips looked a bit grubby….etc.
