I am about to get a f700gs rallye, looks like more 650 and 800's on here, rather than 700, can there be that much difference, from the 600 to 700?
have I done a blunder, :rob

Basically the same bike with an extra front disc. My 650 is great as a daily commuter and run around and very cheap to run. If I had to replace it , it would be a 700.

A late 700GS ie post 2016 is the best to go for..
( I on my 5th )

The ride by wire makes for a smoother ride.
As per what seahorse said but also stiffer spring & updated plastics..
There are various other changes that you only find when you work on a late one.
The fasteners on the handguards / bar end weights are smaller, side screen mounts differ from 650's & earlier 700's
Rider modes on the late ones as well..

650 = 199 kg Road ready -
71 hp - 75 Nm @ 4,500 rpm -
wheelbase = 1,575 mm -
max speed =192 km/h.
fuel consumption = 100 km @ 90 km/h = 3.7 litres

700 = 209 kg Road ready -
75 hp - 77 Nm @ 5,000 rpm -
wheelbase = 1,562 mm -
max speed =185 km/H.
fuel consumption = 100 km @ 90 km/h = 3.9 litres

I nearly went for a new F750GS.
Great bike to ride especially with the quick shift.

But just didn't trust the 750's new engines.
At the time I was changing there were problems with it's engine..

So i went for a 2017 F700GS with the Rotax engine, rather than the 750's with the engine made in China.

If I was going for a PCP then maybe I would of gone for a 750GS, but I bought my 700GS outright.

More than happy with my choice

thanks for replying, the bike I am getting is 2017 F700GS. Rallye ,with just 6k miles, sold my 1200gs an 05, just want something a bit smaller for those weekend rides now, haven't had a chain drive since my fvr days, so must get some chain oil

And a bigger screen ASAP
The best is the Wunderlich Vario, but expensive
Second best GIVI Airflow Screen AF5107 (mine has one on )

Ride safe..

I think I still have a GIVI Airflo screen off my now-sold 700 knocking about the garage. If it fits the Rallye, drop me a PM if you're interested when you get the bike

It will fits all years...

As Ash says it fits the Rallye 700. Im running Moody’s off the forum. The other thing I would invest in is a headlight protector eg rugged roads plastic version. If the headlight gets chipped its £240 total replacement.

Again as Ash says thos Rotax engines have had many years of development and have reliability in spades. You may find it a bit buzzy at 70/80 compared to your bigger GS but on back lanes and handling its lovely.

I had a Rallye. The good thing about the 700 is that pretty much any accessory fits all years, except perhaps the top box mount as BMW went from a smaller top box on the 650 and early 700 to a slightly bigger one with a different mount. Either mount fits all bikes AFAIK. I have a 750GS now but had a happy 15,000 miles on the 700 and would be very happy to run a 700/800 again. To me there is very little difference between the 650 and 700 other than one more front disc (not a noticeable difference in braking power) and changed plastics.

There is a HUGE difference between the F650 and the 700 Rallye. The RED frame ( well thats how I justified to my missus) :augie:augie:augie.

I find the F700 fuelling slightly better , but other than that its a similar bike.

thanks for all these replies ,the bike gets delivered friday,26th.march, having had a ten year or so break from bikes, I am finding it a hard time getting my head round insurance, ok I lost all my no claims, so had to start over, the 1200gs was costing me 212,now this f700, they wanted 342, ffs, well after some talking, I got it down to 175,but then it was a 25 to stop the 1200gs, ffs, where do they get these numbers from, just last week I brought a 2nd hand car2017, it has 2lt turbo, 0 to 60 in just under 10secs, and that cost 375,also cancelled 2 other insurance on two cars, this cost zero 3 to do, I think the motorbike insurer's are taking the pee ,
or is it just me, have a good weekend, lock down will soon be a thing of the past, well lets hope so,

Darn Red frame is a bugger to keep clean...

once again thanks for your replies, here is my ride, I find that the screen that is on the bike works just fine, the bike I find rides well, quite a bit different from riding my old 1200gs, but the 700 will do all that I want to do, but I must remember, petrol goes under the seat, :rob:rob:D

I’ve always thought that was a cool way of doing things. I understand why they move the tank above the engine, but I still prefer the older bikes with the tank at the back.

I've cured the vibes on my 800GSA by fitting a really good chain and grip puppies. No vibes now at any speed.
