I’ve got a 2014 bike, owned by me from new with about 2000 miles on mostly due to the suspension being so bad, so now I’m either selling it or upgrading it.

Looks like both forks and shock are crap, and both Maxton and Nitron do a replacement shock and cartridge kit, at about the same price depending on options.

I really do only use it for the pub on sunny days, so I don’t need loads of adjustment and both Maxton and Nitron will set it up for me.

Any recommendations either way?

YSS or Hagon'll probably cheaper for shocks, probably not as refined though.

I have a 14 plate r9 with Maxton front and back and it transformed the bike in terms of comfort and control. I stay in the seat now where as i used to spend most of the time off it :D I've had it for 4/5 years and still as good as the day i got it. I think you can get it in black as well.

Either will make a big difference / improvement.

I was in exactly the same situation as Billy Buell (above) and spent most of my time with my arse off the seat (which felt like a wooden board), due to the very poor OEM suspension not really being up to the job.

I personally went for the Wilber’s options (front and rear) and the bikes handling has, for me, been transformed.

Good luck with your choice and hopefully you will get to enjoy a great little bike to a fuller potential.

I’m leaning to Maxton, I think they will do a different coloured spring.

Yes, due to crap rebound my arse is mostly off the seat and it runs wide as the crap forks pogo their way round a bend!

Sounds like money well spent, I love the bike apart from riding it at the moment

I've dealt with and bought Hagon recently and they were very good.

As Leasky says any one of these options and you'll think you have a different bike. Let us know what you do.

Maxton

I have just ordered a GP10 for my Yamaha Tenere and Richard Adams was knowledgeably and they met all the promises/deadlines.
I could of had purple or black spring for the inclusive cost.
Red or other colour springs £40. ??
Rebuild cost £100 and all made in UK What’s not to like .

Rgds Allan:)

I have purchased Maxton in the past, & have nothing but praise for them. However I have in the last 12 months fitted my R1200R with Wilbers both front & rear, & a Wilbers on the rear only on my R9T/5.
I am very pleased with the Wilbers, & would recommend them.

I've got a '13 and am going to fit a Nitron on the rear; the front is fine for me.

I’ve been in contact with PLR Suspension near me who is the only Ohlins specialist in Ireland and also Wilbers and Ktech. I’ve been given three options. Ohlins @ £1600 (new rear), Wilbers @ £1100 (new rear) and a K-Tech rebuild/revalve of both ends @ £750.
I’ve already discounted Ohlins as their quality has dropped this past couple of years since being bought out by a yank company (accountants binned their in house anodising plant and getting components now made as cheaply as possible in Eastern Europe).
I hear good reports about K-Tech and like the thought of supporting a British company. Wilbers being German made have a good rep, but I have heard of several riders rear shocks giving trouble, but then you do tend to always hear of the bad on the internet more easily.

So off to speak to PLR’s boss tomorrow and get the low down on what’s on offer.

Well, hopefully the AT’s going in this week for a full K-Tech rebuild. I just couldn't bring myself to splurge out the extra £££’s on the other options. All my delving for info has come up with the K-Tech being really highly regarded, so I’ll give it a go.

The bike is back and there’s nothing really to show other than a couple of stickers and a lighter wallet.

However, the difference is remarkable with much smoother compliance while retaining a firmer ride. It’s hard to describe, but the oe setup felt harsh, whereas this is just so much more controlled.

Happy happy happy. :bounce1
