Just wondering was the original side stand for the G/S difficalt to use ?

Ok if you have long legs,
I’m a short arse so have to get off to put OEM stand down,not a problem until you have panniers fitted and a roll bag on the back.

Does it spring back up automaticaly hen you lift the weight off of it ? Like the 100gs .

Yes,
Gary at BAMW used to sell a kit to modify it,dunno if he still does.
I’d fit a migsel or surefoot.
Think he's stopped selling that , but if the sidestand stays down and you forget it then it could be a problem ?
I think he can make them still. I’m short too and I find it a nightmare. Migsel on the way

True,but you generally only do it the one time.
Most of my bikes don’t have side stand switches ,I don’t personally have an issue,
You have to make it instinctive to always kick the stand up before starting the motor

The migsel has two positions for the spring,
One flicks up when you lift the bike,in the other position it stays down

There is a technique for the OEM stand.
1. Push the foot peg back with your heel
2. Using the end of your toe, push the sidestand as far as you can.
3. Hope
4. Lean the bike over on to the stand
5. Push the bike back so that the stand locks.
It becomes second nature, however, there are a few times when I've repositioned the bike to make it easier.
