Noddy bike 1955 LE VELOCETTE 200cc hand start

I had mine converted to manual for the sake of the neighbours.

.... and gravity :D

Nice one :thumb

I remember the old Zodiac 999 car round Rotherham, I was a police cadet at the time and loved my shifts in it. Bell on the front, and the ariels made a particularly different hum as the wind blew past them.

I was fortunate that the drivers treated me as an equal, and not a tea making 'go to shop' Cadet. So much so that I had to help mop up bodies after a fatal or two. A special killer was Warren Vale Road at Rawmarsh, in its day :rob

Edit ... OP/Magwa

My old Police 'Corker' helmet, with leather neck curtain and press stud flaps over the ears was left in an attic during a house move many years, but I do have a new pair of soft leather gauntlets as used by the Italian display team, with big feck off white cuffs, yours FOC :D

I'll go dig 'em out if I can find 'em :thumb

:beerjug:

Magwa .... PM me your address and I'll send 'em to ya :thumb

New, soft leather, size 9, never been worn :D

Portable comms on motorcycles isn't actually a new development is it?

My late father had an LE (without the phone) before he bought a 1939 Velocette 350 MAC. It (the 350 MAC) had a tall windscreen & he used it all year round during the 1960s, and he made some footpegs that he mounted on the frame tube that ran from under the front seat to the rear wheel for me to put my feet on when riding pillion as a nipper.

Micky
If they need a new home I would fit in them, and they’d look great on the Distinguished Gentlemans Ride I think.

Magda

Not sure if they would have been fitted back then... but I have some black and white checker stickers to fit the sides of the panniers if you want them.
PM me your address and I will send you some if you want them.
Turning this into a Pliocene “noddy” Bike is a great idea I think...... please keep us updated on progress

Alas 1950s bikes did not have checker tape decoration
They were very plain
All black
All grey
Some Grey / Black
Odd colours in some forces, so I may get away without painting the red to Black !

I have the front screen to fit next It will need a minor modification

That looks great...keep it up.

Yes
I may no longer be able to ride motorcycles
But tinkering is fun

It's amazing how good old "Teecut" is bringing the paintwork up

It's looking great.

I haven't even got it running as yet.
I'm trying to see if it's 6v negative or positive earth
And see what the switch on the battery case us for
I may remove the carburreter for a good clean of the jets first.

Rear bracket fabricated and bolted to the radio casing to mount the whip aerial

Just the tickover to sort and job done

Yes
But I'll be stripping the carburreter to sort out the idle jet and smooth the tickover
The brakes are.....awful, but I guess in 1955 that'd be normal
