Take the overnight ferry over from Ancona, Italy or ride there.

Link it to the post on Thessaloniki for a real holiday.

Download the route and whatever from the magazine’s website:

No more effort required than that.

Having had a bit of a wander around Greece on a bike trip ,rode down to Ancona /Patras ferry out
Back via Igomenitsa ,,,, I can throughly recommend a wander in those parts .
TIP - - road surfaces can look grippy but are in fact VERY slippery ,so a degree of caution is required .

A few years ago we were in Parga, just down the coast from Igoumenitsa, on summer hols with a hire car - Fiat Punto I think. There was a thunderstorm one day and the roads were literally like ice. I found it virtually impossible to drive up the hill out of town. Wheelspin all the way, lots of other cars struggling. I remember thinking then how it would be lethal on a bike.

And watch out for the tortoise roadkill.More hazardous than a flat pheasant....
