F650GS Twin 2010 Shock change

In the process of swapping the standard rear shock for a lowered height Hyperpro. Any pointers to removing and refitting would be most gratefully received. Sought U tube vids or even descriptions but none so far. I am puzzled by preload adjuster and the function of the tiny grub screw.
 
Been several years since I changed one so from memory the shock removal was straight forward bolted top and bottom. I don't recall doing anything in particular with the preload adjuster, I ground down an old car spring clamp to fit in the limited space to compress the spring just enough to expose a snap ring which holds it in place. Have the manual at home somewhere but Im away at the moment
 
If it's anything like ths F800 you might find the top bolt is bent. Prone to it apparently.
