Goldwing…….nearly

Well tried it for size & weight ..

For such a big bike, it carrys it's weight down low, dare i say lower than the GS

bum to floor, definitely lower than the GS, and narrower too ( why did you have to make the frame wider BMW?)

Balls of the foot both sides, and going full flat on one side isnt very hard to achieve

Engine note is stunning, even with stock pipes :D

Had a chat about availability, not many left, and only one more delivery this side of Chrimbo

If i wanted a tour, its January at the earliest

Next steps if i want to,

A 48hr test weekend, and then potentially the big one, do i punt the GS and go with the Wing ?

I'd say if your riding includes 2-3 of the following, a Wing could be a good alternative to a GS.
1) Don't ride on gravel and dirt roads much, or not at all.
2) Often carry a passenger.
3) Like DCT transmissions.

Personally I could probably live with any of the GS's as my only motorcycle but not with a Wing as such. I'd want some smaller bike around in addition to a Wing (or any big tourer).

Was the demo on a DCT bike ?

Was the demo on a DCT bike ?

There are no more Manual transmission bikes being produced.

Everything now is DCT, so it would be a DCT

BTW i havent had a demo yet, todays was just try for size / weight

No point rocking up for a test ride if i couldnt touch the floor, ( although Yamaha were quite happy for me to take the Niken when i couldn't get anywhere near the floor lol)

OK, understood.
If I may be so bold as to make some observations.
Many folk are not keen on the DCT box, and I was in that group before trying it. However, if you’ve not tried a DCT It is a bit weird so remember, the box is a learning box so the change points get higher as it learns your riding style. When I got mine, in touring mode it was in 7th by 38mph. Now after 17500 miles it won’t go into top until about 50mph. I find this is fine as I prefer to be a bit more in defensive mode .
They are a magnificent machine, but it does take a bit of time to adjust to them.
Not met anyone yet who haven’t liked a test ride on one but make sure you buy it from a Goldwing centre, I’ve heard a couple of stories about ‘normal’ Honda dealers not able to give full support to buyers as it’s a bike that’s a bit specialised.
Above all else, enjoy the demo.
