Hi Folks. Change of venue and back to an old favourite that did not open last year because of Covid-19.

Following the suggestion in last months posting:

Kingfisher Lodge at Sibthorpe is open again under new management

I payed visit with the assistance of Mistacat to check this out.

It is under new management and had a bit of a makeover (gentrified?) and obtained a 'premises licence' adding a bar to attract more customers later in the day and evenings.

Might be worth mentioning that breakfasts are only served until 9am according to their FB page.

I checked out the serving times and the above only applies to the early 'breakfast special' for fishermen and currently ends at 8.30 according to the chalk board!

The standard breakfast menu continues for most of the day.

Kingfisher lodge is the name of the cafe.

The site is still Portland Fishing Lakes, Longhedge Ln, Sibthorpe, Newark NG23 5PN

The road up to the cafe had been smoothed out (a little).

I will post up a copy of the menu (when I find where I put it :blast).

Found a photo of a breakfast posted on FB last Sunday and a photo to remind you what the cafe looks like :thumby:

To my great regret I won’t be attending as I’m accompanying (ie guiding) my bro and cousin (both from the soft South) up to Altberg.
Thanks for organising though Gerry.

See you all there…

Enjoy Richard, I am sure we would all wish to be with you on your road trip :thumby:

Count me in.. looking forward to it.. can't see a time, but guess it'll be confirmed closer..

I plan to give it another road test tomorrow morning around 9.30 if the roads have dried out. :thumby:

Usually from 9.00am. You know, breakfast time. :thumb2

Tosser humour, I love it ! :aidan
Never a bad time for a good fry up!
See what the weather is like tomorrow, might take a bimble that way, but see all on the 3rd

Went this morning to sample the breakfast.

I enjoyed the food.

However, the Facebook image of the food I posted above shows a more generous portion than was provided.

I did not get double portions of eggs; black pudding and hash browns.

The rest was much the same with 2 bacon and 2 sausage.

The 'Fishermans Special' breakfast including a drink is available until 9am.

As the menu states they now offer a 'Posh Coffee' option and I chose the Latte.

I believe this is a venue worth returning to. :thumby:

Good turn out for a wet Saturday morning. :thumby:

Pleased to welcome Dakar (Dave) to the breakfast meets and hopefully we have not scared him away from attending future events.

Sounded out views for future venues and most wanted ongoing changes of places to visit when possible.

I will look to booking the Buttercups tea rooms near Leicester for next month.

Keep suggestions coming.

Gerry
