If you go next year you can take in the Schottenring GP, too.

Three jaunts in all:

Are the hotels biker friendly?

Do they do a full English breakfast?

Do the restaurants just serve that foreign muck?

Indeed so, at least for those prepared to use a motorway and a main road or two.

Just about every hotel I have ever stayed in in Germany is biker friendly

Nope they serve German breakfast as its Germany, vastly superior in my view

Yep they only sell foreign muck, you will just have to slum it with the schnitzel, steaks, halbes Hühnchen und Pommes, Gyros und Pommes, or push the boat out and try bratkartoffeln

Though, to be fair, Bowser has addressed the most common questions and fears seen on this site, when it comes to Adventure (with a capital A) jaunts on something as ruggedly awesome and self-confidence confirming as a motorcycle.

But would you use autoroute or D roads to get there ? What’s the best time to set off ?

Motorways? I shit ‘em, they is well boring and made for sheeple in cages…. Except when nobody is looking and then I close my eyes, too.

When SWMBO lets me, of course.

It was much more fun when you could turn the lights off on your bike and see how fast you dared go on an unlit motorway in the middle of the night.

The last bike I could play that game on was a ZX9R E1 and I often wondered what car drivers thought when I came flying up behind them then lit them up from about 1/4 mile back. They probably thought they’d fallen asleep and nearly shit themselves

That route there looks very much like the Alleenstrasse in the southern part of Germany.

There is a post by you in the travel section that details the whole Alleenstrasse.

The Alleenstrasse is so long, I guess it’s not surprising that parts get mixed into other routes.

I save routes that I have picked up from various sources and can display them, one on top of each other, on my Mac. Often the lines will line up, I guess because sometimes they are ‘Great roads’ or sometimes because there is only one way to go from A to B along ‘Great roads’.

Although a lot of the larger hotels also serve “American” breakfast options nowadays i.e. crispy streaky bacon, scrambled eggs and hash browns.

If you go a bit further there is Arnstadt. A certain Johann Sebastian Bach was born here and performed in the church that is still there today. Arnstadt to Plauen has some good roads and fantastic scenery.
