Replaced the rotor cover BUT....

The starter will not engage, just gives a resounding clunk, anyone any thoughts on this? Wil have to wit till Monday to get it laid down on it's side and take the rotor cover off to see if I have ballsed it up.
 
Could just be a weak battery not spinning up fast enough to engage the starter :nenau
 
The Fix

The shim ( Item 14 in the attachment was found inside the rotor case when removed, simply, I put it on the wrong shft, locking the starter motor solid. All sorted now.

I did that with a K1200RS Linky a long time back Was sick to the core when I pressed the starter and it was Tight turning over

It had to come all apart again Yours was a much easier fix :aidan
