Surely that's the "tracker" fob, to use a generic term ? If you don't have it with you, as you ride off from home it will appear to the monitoring station that you've stolen the bike. Remove it from the key, & put it inside an inner pocket.

I’m surprised the dealer did not talk you through all this on collection…..

Having had the RT for a few months now I’ve realised how little the dealer actually knew about the bike.

He couldn’t link the WiFi when I picked it up, told me the oil level was TFT monitored which it isn’t.
Even the mechanic didn’t know the bike had a WiFi connection.

The sales manager has left the business and been replaced by another who only knows about cars.

Doesn’t fill me with confidence.

It’s a pain in the ass ! I got endless phone calls whilst out on the bike “ hi are you with your motorcycle can you confirm your location “
I also put it down to the reason I had a flat battery every other week ! Got dealer to take it out in the end . Also records your speed

I assume you're talking about Paul - I was a bit shocked to find he'd left when I popped in there recently. But those guys have never been a patch on Riders - what were BMW thinking?

Regarding the Datatool tracker, you can set it up so that you don't get the annoying calls or texts - but imv it's crap compared to the Biketrac system that I fitted to my previous RT. With that one I could control everything from my phone, I didn't need to carry a separate fob (with yet another battery), I could check the bike's battery voltage on my phone, and the annual subscription was cheaper. Why BMW went with Datatool is beyond me.

Few Farkles fitted today. Still not been out on it as I have had bloody Covid. Should be good to go later in the week.

First ride today. The TFT satnav is spot on and no issues as of yet. Gearbox seams a lot smoother than my last 1250.

My understanding is that they no longer fit the Datatool and it was fitted by BMW U.K.

Nice nice nice.

I like the lattice rack things

Cheers pal. Just gives that extra little space for carrying a bit of light stuff. Especially touring with the girlfriend. :D
All the racks and engine bars are Wunderlich. Just a Akra end can to fit and a fenda extender when one comes out and I'm done.:augie
For now.:D
