GSA seat slope

I just cannot get comfortable on my 2021 GSA
I have the OEM seat and the Rallye high seat. The OEM seat causes my hips to roll forward and I am constantly shifting back in the seat, even with front set high and rear set low.
The Rallye seat is the one I would really like to get right as it allows me to move about and it looks good. However as shown in the pic it slopes forward so that again I slide forward. The pic is taken on the side stand with a chock under the side stand to get bike near vertical. I was surprised at the extent of the slope.
My next option I think is to take the Rallye seat to a specialist and see if he can level up the seat. I dont really want it any higher, just dont want it to slope forward as much.

I’m tall…. And gave up on my last GS because the seat kept tilting me forward….

I ended up with the high Rallye seat… set on high at the front and lo at the rear…


Still sold it though…after 4,000 miles…
 
When Twizz says he's tall ...... he's like ...... reeeaaally tall ....... :D
 
Hi Kev. I too have the same issue. I bought the rallye Seat as I liked the idea of a one piece Seat and it does look good. For me it feels as if it makes me lean forward more than the stock two piece Seat. As in I’m closer to the tank than the stock seats. I guess it’s also slightly narrower which for some may be more comfortable. I’ve stuck with it and done 3000 miles on it already as it’s not overly an issue for me. If I go on a long trip I’ll probably put the other seats back on.

Wow that seat really does look flat. I dont understand why BMW dont make a flat seat. South Shields is a place I know well. I will be giving Les a call.
 
Les did mine too. He fitted an air pad at the same time. First class.

Hi,

Is that the original cover on the seat? I have a black and white rallye seat and would like to update to the new colours but also sort out the sliding forward…

What sort of cost is it?
 
Mine was £110 or £120 ish , that was new foam added and reshaped plus the new cover
 
As my rallye seat is the one used most when I am riding solo then the red and black colours will not match the triple black I have ordered , Les is recovering the seat with the same black basket weave pattern on the top and a smooth black on the sides
 
Hi Kev, I feel your pain. BMW seem unable to make a seat that befits the bike never mind the riders. I had similar issues with my GTL, the seat was a torture contraption designed, it would seem, to exact retribution upon anyone anyone enjoying riding. Eventually, after a deal of research I came across Russell Day Long seats which, as the name suggests, enables very 'comfortable' day long rides. (15 hrs in the saddle excluding any stops). Now I've got the '21' GSA TE and surprise surprise the seat is another torture contraption. Being a tad thick I didn't bite the bullet and order a Russell in advance, there's a 3-4 month waiting list, but waited until the torture contraption had claimed its full pound of flesh....literally. So anyway I've ordered the Russell which is in production now and will arrive in 2 weeks or so. In the meantime I've tried Borbro from Hungary (very well made but no improvement comfort wise) and Sargent because it was available (definite improvement on the OEM but still a pain in the proverbial after an hour or so and then at reducing intervals thereafter).

All three seats have a tendency to throw me forward (even with front set to high and back low) when using the brakes at anything above 'grannies on the back' severity which, can be a tad uncomfortable for the family jewels. With that in mind I've ordered my new Russell with 'Gripper' vinyl to stop the sliding. Moreover the Russell seat has a pronounced riding pocket for the derriere which from experience on the GTL stops a lot of sliding in any event.

The Russell is not cheap and does require some time to get but what price comfort? That said it is worth serious consideration and they will adapt the seat anyway you like. I'm holding my next trip down to Spain and Morocco until the seat arrives, knowing I'll be able to do Vienna to Perpignan, France (1,600Kms) easily in a day then let the fun begin....viva Espania and the October/November sunshine :). Its been a while since I started this thread, so as Big T has brought it back to life I will update.
12 weeks ago I took my high rallye seat to saddle Craft South Shields. Les was overwhelmed with work and simply could not say when he could get onto it. Nevertheless I agreed to leave it with him with no time pressure.
I sat on the bike to show him that I sit well back on the seat (six foot five) and wanted to take the slope out to reduce the roll forward effect. Les said he would see what he could do but it would not be easy if I wanted to retain the seat height. So its going to be ready next week and I will post an update then.
In the meantime I have been riding on my two piece seat with the rider seat set high at front and low at back. Its the best of a bad job.
What I have found however is interesting. I also ride a Honda 250 CRF Rally. It has a one piece seat that slopes at least as much as the GSA Rallye seat but it is so comfortable, no slide forward, no hips rotating to crunch your nuts. The reason for this is I sit way back on the 250 and the footrests put my feet forward a lot more than the GSA and higher. In that position my legs stabilise my hips. Pity it has no friggin power !
 
I looked at their website & it appears they are in USA (possibly why they offer something a large area of flesh can spread out over...) and that they need the original seat to work on for quite a while. I have a '21 plate GSA TE & don't really want to buy a new seat to send to USA or send them the bit I sit on. Do you (or anyone else on here) know if a cheap base is available? To complicate it my existing seat has heating fitted - though I don't actually use it & wouldn't have ordered if I'd been first owner.
 
Still amazes me how many (can afford to) people buy a new bmw bike for many thousands of pounds then require advice on how to make it shorter, more comfortable, less buffeting etc. And then sell it with low miles. I'd have test ridden it a lot before parting with said cash

most are guilty of candy shopping, but if they have the cash lucky them. :friday

It is not just adventure bikes or bmw's, look around dealers at the number of r9t derivatives, ducati scramblers, triumph scramblers etc that are for sale at two or three years old with very low mileages yet have gone through two or three registered keepers.

People buy into the press hype as to what they think they should ride

As for BMW they seem to struggle to design a comfortable seat , nearest I have found is my f800 gsa or the comfort seat options made by Kahedo
