I see slevin has closed the thread. I, for one, was waiting with bated breath to hear what the problem was eventually diagnosed as. It would help all of us 1150 owners by adding to the knowledge pool

Steven (slevin) messaged me later saying it turned out to be the Hall effect sensor.

I'd PM'd him after he closed the thread saying that people would be interested in the outcome. I got a message about a month later, apologising, saying it was the HES.
