Air Temp Sensor

New bike to me.
Just dash's showing where there should a figure,s....
I have found the sensor under the beak area,
Is there a way to test it or to see how it might not be working,

Ie..In the plug should there be continuous current to it before start up or
Should it get current after starting the bike...

I had the same problem on the car.

Always worked and then i charged the battery without disconnecting anything, next day i noticed the temp reading -.-

The advice i was given was to disconnect the battery (both leads) wait 15 mins and reconnect.
i did and at first thought it didnt work, then after about a minutes drive it started working again.

Might be worth a shot?
