Quick note about fitting the Macmotor suspension lowering kit. This is much cheaper than the KTM kit but still not cheap. The linkage is machined from solid and weighs more than the original which is a high grade casting(?). The bearings are KTM originals. It fits nicely. However the suspension unit lower fixing bolt is disappointing. This was a stock 50mm A2/70 stainless socket bolt with a standard Iso course thread, unlike the original which has a fine thread. It was too short and was shouldered for only about half of the length required by the suspension unit. The height of the socket head was such as to make clearing the dog-bones marginal. I had to buy a 70mm bolt to get a sufficient shoulder and then extend the thread a little towards the head and cut the whole thing down to about 53mm. The head had to be ground down to ensure satisfactory clearance. Maybe I'm being unnecessarily fussy but the length of the shouldering, ]the length of the actual bolt, and the head clearance are important. The good news is that the bike is now low enough for getting on and off to be much easier, which was the intention. Has anybody any experience of how this kit lasts and any other problems?
