A bit of surfing around in Google, will give you an idea of what the region is like:

Indeed a nice area
The pass to Aprica is a stunner
Had to divert to that area in May 1998 when the passes in Switzerland were snowbound

caravan @ top of San Marco pass , sells most expensive can of coke i have ever brought.

In 2017, I was in Granada, and went to Sierra Nevada. Took skilift to 2500 metres, and set off walking uphill. In shorts, wearing Panama hat.
Metalled Road. Summer and very sunny. Got to 3,000 metre post and photographed it.
Turned round and walked back to Skilift for journey back. Round trip, circa 2 hours with nothing to eat or drink.
Inside hut there was a coke machine. Circa €1.50. Out can came. It was the coldest can I have ever held in my life. How the coke inside was not a block of ice I do not know.
Drank it on way down on Skilift. That was the nicest thing I have ever drunk in my life!

Re. pavement Cafe: Coke was over twice as dear as wine!
