One to be aware of if anyone is travelling via Rotterdam Ferry to the Alps or Southern Germany due to the result of flooding in July the entire section of the A61 autobahn from Dusseldorf to Koblenz is closed indefinitely due to damage to bridge support pillars.
Find an alternative route as the closure is only marked when you get there, the local diversions are shocking and autobahn via Frankfurt further east is apparently struggling with extra traffic.
I will be coming back via Trier and Aachen to avoid the area.
Also the area around Pirmasens had further long delays and tailbacks, what should have been a fairly leisurely 405 mile and six and a half hours yesterday, took almost nine hours and with the diversions almost 500 miles
