Fan noise ?

Hello Chaps
Today was the first time the misses has managed to sit on and run up her replacement 2003 GS1150 following her accident and total loss of her old GS1150.
Anyway with the bike running, it sounds like the alternator has a fan , it isn't belts , just sounds like a fan running. Did the 2003 model have a different alternator with a built in fan?

Are you sure it's not the fuel pump you can hear?

I dont think it is the fuel pump as its a different sound to the pump . As the pump worrs when you turn the ignition on.

it's something to do with where you live !

( had customer near you , ring me on a Sunday , complaining about noise under seat , ( Moto Guzzi Quota ) when bike was running . told him it had done it from new . it was the pump running , he wasn't wearing a helmet when he could hear it )

Thank your your replies, I'm not really too worried about it ,just the misses , "my other GS didn't make that noise , ask those blokes on that forum of yours " .
