It’s a bitsa.....

I think it’s a /6.... with a later set of forks and brakes.

Someone will be along with a lot more knowledge than me (not difficult) to advise further

It probably a r50/5 from 1970’s have a look in The for sale section there is one for sale and it looks a lot like the basic bike in your post (picture below)

Also looking at the cubby on the tank it may also be ex plod.

Now I'm changing my mind. Looking at the footrest mounts it's a 1980 - 84 frame with a later /7 5-speed gearbox. It looks like a /7 swing arm but has a /6 or /5 motor with mechanical rpm drive. The carbs mean (probably) it is big than a 600. Of course, a close-up of the engine number and frame number would help. Tank and headlamp /5. Someone perhaps with a post-81 R100RT and a /5 engine and other bits....

in short no, its a bitsa done so well you thought it was a standard bike, which at the end of the day is what a good custom build should look like, ie somthing BMW could have built

I’m with Bowser…. It’s a well built special, done to whatever the owner wanted. It’s a bitsa done well……. So we’ll that the OP thought it was a bmw model, when in fact it’s parts from several b,W models put together in a pleasing way. (I would happily ride/own it!…. But would prefer the non-police tank without the cubbyhole in the top)
