Turned up early at Eurotunnel this morning 06.45 and got on a 07:18 train saving 3 hours,
If your planning a crossing it's worth booking a early one because the French checks take 4/5mins per vehicle on average and at busy times can cause lengthy delays
Anyway uneventual 300 mile blast down to Chaumont for first overnight stop at Ibis styles hotel which has about the best secure parking I've seen!
250miles tomorrow to Rencurel Vercors for 6 nights at hotel Marrimor, then move on to Castellane hotel du Commerce for another 6 nights
Photos
Entrance to secure parking
Chaumont viaduct

The food looks nice if conservative UKGSer fodder.

Would be better washed down with a bottle of Pomerol...

They have retired to Portugal and their Daughter and Partner are running the place now, she seems nice, free beer offered:)

Ahh, I thought they might have moved on - I'm sure their daughter will do a fab job just like her parents did - my first trip to Le Marronnier was the year Jean-Francois took the place over from a Dutch couple.

Certainly fantastic value for money, barbeque tonight, you can just keep going back for more, it's costing me 430 euros for 6 nights dinner B&B (approx £61 per night)
There's about 30 bikes here now, I'm the only Englishman but most speak English

I was in Castellane yesterday. We decided to go to a cracking hotel in les Salles du verdon. Very nice. In Nice now, it’s very nice ,,,,, in Nice.

I do like the look of that hotel. Added to list....

No you're not. There's 2 more Englishmen here plus a Welsh bloke. :thumb
