Returned from Mandello to Menorca. First leg, Abbadia Lariana to Casei Gerola, nice little town, very quiet but it had a local bar selling cheap beer and a homemade lasagne, very nice.
Day 2, Casei Gerola to Fossano. Lovely place and somewhere I would like to re visit.
Day 3, Fossano to Ventimiglia. I very seldom if ever ride pillion, being used to rural Cambridgeshire and the A1 to Scotland I have never gone over so many viaducts or through so many tunnels, I lost count and my crimper was sucked onto that pillion seat like a barnacle. I don't do heights or enclosed spaces.
Day 3, Fossano to Ventimiglia, we arrived on market day, what a shit hole, loads of immigrant lookey lookey men trying to sell you shite. I was walked round with both hands in me pockets covering me goods if you know what I mean, quite a few encampments on the seashore as well, not a place I would visit or go near again.
Day 4, Ventimiglia to toulon, good run except for the last 4k entering toulon where it was stop start all the way. Arrived early for the ferry to menorca which was delayed anyway. Quite a few marches and protests going on (suppose it is France after all) don't know what about but much arm waving and whistle blowing by local gendarmerie.
Overall a great trip to Mandello. Lights on the California are shite, going through some of the tunnels couldn't see feck all, Mr Wassel will be getting my money soon to upgrade the lights on my Eldorado.
More planning to do for my trip next year.
