If it 'roughly fits' wear it.
But, having got the old textile out of the cupboard now that the weather is beginning to change and the leather oiled and put away, it felt strange.
The padding felt lumpy. Something doesn't feel right.

Taking a pair of shoes (trainers/boots) on holiday, and the time you wear them they start falling apart and the sole comes off them.

You gotta love foam and synthetics that deteriorate.

I feel your pain.
