I know your gonna get fed up with me and the mundane questions but here is one more, got the brake off and thought I would pull up the gaiters and have a look at the fork seals and although they don't seem to be weeping thought it may be a good idea to renew them along with the fork oil as I think it maybe have never been done.

So do I need to remove the stanchions or is it possible to remove just the lowers to replace the seals and renew the oil?

Cheers again all

Lower allen bolt needs to be removed in situ. Just remove lowers and prise out seal ( I personally would just change the fork oil TBH ). Alternatively, remove fork leg and ( crack open top nut first ) and tip upside down once fork removed. Watch that top nut doesn't fly into your face !! I'd use 5 ( recommended ) or 7.5 grade fork oil, no heavier !
