Hopefully someone can help me on this.

I have a computer running Windows 10 and some specific software. The software is configured for specific external hardware.

I am looking to run an additional copy of this software that is configured to a different set of external hardware.

In the past I did it by having a swappable HD in a caddy that I just changed when needed.

I would like to do it using modern SSD drives.

However I cannot find any info on this type of setup.

I do not want to run it via USB external drives as they will be too slow.

Have you thought about using something like VMWare?

Not sure if it helps your particular issue, but may be another way of resolving it.

Install 2 SATA SSD drives and pick which one boots from BIOS.
Or you could even install a physical switch that switches the power between the two drives so the PC will boot from the one that's powered.
