Trip down to the Piccos on the old 600 Tenere.

Performed well except for poor fuel, probably crap blocking the jets in the carbs and the rectifier decided to give up the ghost.

Otherwise really enjoyable.

Yes I took the bike to the Colombres rally, a pre 1988 rally in the Piccos.

Yes agree that the old XT’s are a good looking bike, very simple engine and set up. Rides really well in the twisty mountain roads.

A refreshing change from a R80GS, just a little bit more conventional in the way it rides and handles. Both however great bike and the GS would be a better choice if you did not have time on your hands and wanted to do some off roading.

The XT likes to plod along around 55/60 MPH. At this speed it returns nearly 60 MPG and does around around 250 miles per tank.

Still needs some work doing to it, the wiring loom has been subject to a little bodgery and I may have the spokes replaced and a bit of powder coating, may mod the airborne for the later 3AJ and a few other upgrades.

Anyone have any spares lurking around in their garages/sheds….

Oh those AX41 tyres handle so so well saying they are a 50/50 road/off road tyre. So predicable, even good on wet roads.
