Alright folks how are you all on this dreict day. I have been wanting to get back into riding for a while now and always fancied a GS. Now I have some funds and have seen a bike that looks OK. Its a 2004 GS with just under 36000 miles on the clock. Is there anything I should be looking out for? I'm not very mechanical with my words but I can drop the oil and do simple tasks. I am based in West of Scotland and have lots of great roads around me. Cheers Paul

Welcome Paul. Earlier 1200s? Look for consistent ownership first - the usual stuff, history and provenance. Final drive can be a weakness. Why not put a wanted ad on here? A far better bet than taking a punt on eBay or Gumtree.

Abs or non abs? Or abs delete? Fuel pump controller goes cheap get around with a bit of wire with correct ends. Buying a well sorted one off here is a good place to start. Condition is more important than mileage. JJH
