Hi All,

We are planning next years trip and looking to stay for 1 x night in the Black Forrest area. We are travelling down from Cochem to Gindelwald and looking for a stop over mid way ish?
We usually stay at Schenkenzell (Waldblick) but they cannot accommodate us for the date we need.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

TA Steve

Have you contacted the Waldblick directly? Loads of places will not have 2022 prices on the main booking sites until Feb/March next year.

When you say we, are you a couple or group?

I have stayed a few times in Bad Peterstal, quite a few places to stay
Depends on how many rooms you need, but if it’s only one or two rooms - then going on spec can be fun and you usually turn up some gems, that you wouldn’t ever find be pre-booking

Try David and Angela Williams at Pension Williams in Seebach. It's ideal for a 1 night stop over and very close to the B500.

I recommend this place. It is right on the B500. Stayed here, at Berghotel Mummelsee on my way back home from euro trip in 2019.

Excellent place with nice walk around the back of the lake to stretch your legs after a day in the saddle. terrace or even a private balcony overlooking the lake, good food, excellent views out the front. Plenty of parking space and they even let me park the bike out the back under the cover.

It the one that I made a note off for returning to one day.

Pics of the hotel and the surroundings.

Pics of the room I had. Bearing in mind that I’ve turned up unannounced and just walked into the reception with the enquiry about staying the night.

Stayed in this town before at (Schutzen) was not very impressed by it. Will research others in the area.

The food:

This was my dinner, which was plentiful, tasty and there was plenty of alternative options to choose from. Local blueberry (windberry) liqueur aperitif on the house was very nice too.

Breakfast spread, which was quite something too, including freshly squished juices from all sorts of things. Be it Oranges or Apples, or full on wellness type, which include carrots, celery, ginger, you get the picture….

A selection of breads, cheese, meats, as well as cooked varieties, including waffles, pancakes, etc.

Steve, based on you trip plans, Berghouse Mummelsee works out to be halfway post between your start and finish locations.

I’m a fan of Booking dot com

Just pop up map for the area of interest and pin down a suitable looking abode.

I also score a nice donation to my favourite charity via easyfundraising

Win. Win.

After 2 years of cancelled Euro tours, I’ve re-arranged yet again for 2022. Including Cochem.

Just booked 3 nights in the Berghotel in the first week of May.

It better live up to the billing as I will need a relaxing time after a weekend on the lash with AndyB_11 and his responsible adult in Dieppe.

I have stayed their before and would not go back. Much better places to stay than there. Rooms are dated and small, bike parking is limited and on the main road, host is very un-accommodating. That was our experience if that helps?

I wasn’t aware I was going to Dieppe in May :nenau

She certainly mentioned it but I’d since erased it from the limited space between my ears since then. I’ll have to ask her if we’re going from Dover or using the more desirable Newhaven crossing.
