Anyone got any recommendations for a set of spots / fogs for my 2017 Urban. Not interested In any LED / Denali type set up as I have the traditional halogen bulb headlight and want spots to match. I’m also not interested in the massive Wunderlich 6 days additional light as IMHO it’s too big. Ideally I’m looking for something no bigger than 4” in diameter and traditional halogen bulb…. :thumby:

Have a look at the aux lights they make for the Mini. I've put a couple of sets of those on bikes. You can get chrome or painted ones.

And you can get them way cheaper than that!

Cheers Vern, those are still a little too large for my liking (5.5inches) but i've managed to get a set of old school Ring spots with covers that come in at 4.5 inches so i think they will be fine. Should be here early next week so i'll see what they look like and update this thread..

I'm sure they do smaller ones as well but can't find any at the moment. I'll ask my mate when he gets back how big the ones on his 1100 are:beerjug:

Cheers Vern, ideally i wanted a set of 4" PIAA spots with covers but finding a set of halogen spots now is almost impossible....

Bikeviz do some nice Aux lights for about £100. I would rate them the same as the SW-Motech lights, which are double the money but also come with a handlebar switch and appropriate loom.

Mine are wired to come on with the engine using a switched live, so don't need the handlebar switch.

They do well for seeing as well as being seen.

I agree that they are more expensive the the Chinese stuff via Aliexpress, but if anything goes wrong, Bikeviz are near Bournemouth.

I went with a set of PIAA LP530 lamps in the end. If anyone else is considering these here’s a recommendation, buy them from eBay from a seller in the states. Even with shipping and Import duty you’ll save yourself £50 from any UK seller… Fitted them last night and really pleased with the result…

Looks very good indeed.

Like the spots. What is the distance they are effective at please? I am looking for a pair of spots to light up the road ahead, not necessarily to be seen?

Wunderlich atom spots

I've got fitted Wunderlich atom spot lights to my R nine t 21 model and just fitted the Wunderlich atom spot light guards.. not cheap but Wunderlich do make quality products very bright/low draw/long life with 100.000 hours plus a 5 year warranty.. easy to fit direct from battery via 15 amp fuse via a switch live via waterproof handle bar switch. also have fitted bmw genuine engine bars which supports the spot lights :thumb

I'm in the process of fitting a Hella black magic flood to mine. Has anyone used the aux power supply normally reserved for the sat nav as a supply? the spot will also be switched and the spot light it's self is rated at 2.6 amps so won't over draw the socket in theory?
Just a thought as my other option is using the sat nav supply to power a relay. I'm desperate not to complicate things!
