Jimmy Ellis RIP

RIP Jimmy ... my thoughts are with family and friends.

Sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing. Met him at that Lahinch event, that was some weekend :eek: Good to see some familiar faces in that photo inc. Tuned In with his eyebrows intact :D

Jimmy

Jimmy was a good friend and someone I am infinitely better for having known.

His passion for biking was infectious and undiminished. Still clocking-up the miles and trying to get to 300,000km on the Basic by the end of the year, though earlier Covid restriction to travel and a bit of ill-health had made it a bit of a challenge but he was out and about trying to get there.

I followed many gravelly roads and boreens with him over the years - as did many others who knew him - and it was a pleasure to be out finding the roads less travelled. His knowledge of the roads was unequalled.

His willingness to fix your bike, or rescue you when stranded a few hundred kms from home and then fix it with a smile - after he gave you an earful - was one of Jimmy's endearing characteristics.

I will miss him.

I will add a few more photos in him memory as he navigates to new waypoints we have not been to yet.

Some nice photos Pat :thumb

Well done to bogman/Cha for arranging the bike escort. I didn’t get to count them but there must have been 50+ bikes & what an eclectic mix ! A fitting tribute. Can someone post the videos please….

And well done to GerryC for a fine eulogy which perfectly captured the spirit of the man

I'm glad he got a good turn out - it shows appreciation and the regard for the man and his vast contribution to riding a Bike in Ireland.

To those that were there - Thank You. Sorry we couldn't make it.

~~~
Marc and Linda.
