The mists of time have fogged my memory, but I know I used to grease the splines on my old airheads (1981 RS100 and CS100) and I think the recommended stuff was OPTIMOL - I have a tin of it left and I think that is what it was used for. I also have a tub of Moly grease, so it might have been that - and I have corrosion block grease kindly given to me by the Royal Navy :D

On the paralever, is it a job that needs doing and if so which grease should I use please? R800GS.

Ta very muchly.

Yes it needs done, Optimol is not the best , some shafts have been known to gall using it,
At one time Honda's own Moly 60 grease was the go too, but it is NLA , can't remember what they now recommend, but something with 60% Moly might be good.
Might even be an Optimol product , just not the one the BMW bike dealers sell.
The special stuff used in CV joints on FWD cars is good if you can find it, I had a Renault part number for it which worked on my Triumph PI half shafts, but it was $25- a tube when ordinary stuff was 99 cents!
