I still miss my 1953 Square Four that I bought as a non-running heap for £10 in 1968 !

It was a 'Mk I' with the two-pipe motor but I fitted the later 'Four-pipe" lump and 'customised' it with lots of chrome and a BSA A10 front end (to get an 8" twin-leading shoe brake !).

I had to sell it when I moved from rural Somerset to a top floor flat in Edinburgh in 1972 :tears.

I used to do 20,000 miles per year on it, change the oil every 1,000 miles and strip the motor to clean the sludge traps annually.

It did the IOM Mountain Circuit a couple of times (slowly) :augie.

Happy days.

Bob.

Me too @Voyager, a early iron head 2 port 4G Mk1, with sidecar chassis & box chair in my case. It was blowing a bit of oil smoke but seemed to run OK. However it turned out the previous owner hadn't kept on top of maintenance (understatement) , so the engine proved to be way beyond economic repair.

Still what do you expect for a tenner. At least the bike parted out for a handsome profit - kept us lads in beer tokens.
