G/S PD for sale in US auction

It’s supposed to be a G/S Paris Dakar…..but it isn’t, they didn’t go into production till 1985. No side panels on the Paris Dakar, fork gaiters are the wrong ones, the white front cover thing has no place on any G/S. Exhausts should be Matt black paint, they look like black chrome. The rear shock is up side down ffs. Current bid $35000. Un fucking believable…..

Been following all the comments.
Apparently no factory PD's were ever sent to the US , the people who owned a G/S just bought the "kit"and fitted the bits or had them fitted by the dealer.

$35K bid with 4 days to go ??

Wrong silencer as well, shouldn’t be black or have rear foot pegs.

Now if it looked like this..

It would be worth it

Nice bike.

Mine needs new tyres , im dithering about what type .

Where did you by the Metzeller Enduro 1&2 tyres ?

Sorry another question.

Is your exhaust ceramic coated ? mine is a new SS one but i prefer the original black. I was wondering if ceramic holds the heat in and therefore the heatshield gets to hot ?

Thanks

Thanks,

The tyres are Sahara enduro 3, readily available. Yes the headers and collector are ceramic coated. The exhaust is the original one in chrome. The coating was done at Zircotec.com

I beg to differ….the tyres are 1&2s - the Sahara 3s are fine but having tried both I much prefer the TKC70s much nicer if you are mainly road riding with a bit of fire roads. The black chrome headers and collector box are available in black chrome at Siebenrock …..at a cost of about £600

My mistake, yes they are 1s and 2s.

Ive been dithering about tyres for some time now but i think im going to go for the TKC70s . The exhaust headers and collector box are brand new SS , i will be going down the ceramic coating route in the new year.

Just looked at that auction its upto $36K , won't be selling mine .

Just out of interest given the appreciating value of these bikes, do you insure yours on an agreed value basis?

I have been thinking about that .
Mine is currently insured for 10K which now sounds a bit low now.
Although people in the US i suppose have a lot more money then us poor Brits.

A incredibe example of classic appreciation is the "Crocker" motorcycle .
Can't even afford the dust caps !

I think I’m going to insure my basic for an agreed value next time around, I’d don’t think the insurance company would value it right otherwise

Mine are all on agreed value. Below 10k all you need are two photos and fill in the form. Above 10k you need a condition and valuation report from a dealer / specialist* with photos and the form. I’m with Peter James Insurance, very good company.

Cheers Tetley, I’ll give them a try when my renewal comes up
