Does the live feed to the ignition with comes through the kill switch of the righthand switch gear ?
If yes could it be a potential reason for a non starting bike ?

Yes to Q1

Yes but to Q2 (see other responses). One time my previous GS didn't start was damp/corroded connectors under the tank.
