Hi all,
I’ve aquired a pair of new old stock fork legs.
I’ve no idea what model or year bike they are for ,
It would make life easier to source parts,wheel/hub,spindle ,caliper etc etc if I could pin things down a bit:D
LHS axle bore 20mm dia
RHS axle bore 25mm dia
Stanchion dia 43mm
Top yoke bore dia 54mm
Lower yoke bore dia 57mm
Caliper bolt centres 96mm
Some photos,
Thanks in advance
Mike

i have a feeling almost all ktms and husky from 2012 and on apart from the big ones

Or possibly 520 or very early 525 both with 43mm forks before they changed to 48.

There should be some model numbers stamped on the axle clamps somewhere. Got any pics of the top of them?

Check the underneath of the clamps. They are apparently quite random!

A call to Mark at MH Racing might be in order … +44 1249 721001

What makes you think they're a off a KTM?

I'm a bit confused :D
Do you have 2 complete forks?

They are WP but of course any numbers on the castings or elsewhere won't tell us which bike they're for as many models will share the same parts except for valving and springs.
If complete are they open or closed chamber etc?

The symbol stamped on the bottom of the leg seems to indicate they are off a '2001' model. The 'clock' symbol is common on the KTM range.

Yes I have a 2001 520 and did have a 2001 400 which share the same forks although my 2004 525 has the 48mm as I said. But there are other models which use 43mm.

I know very little about usd forks Tim,more pics if it helps.
I was hoping someone might say that 20mm axles were fitted from 20xx to 20xx

20mm axles are mostly 2000-2002 model year KTMs - and I think Husaberg, Husqvarna and some CCMs.

The last airhead I fitted a set of wp forks to,I knew exactly what model the forks were off so it made life fairly simple to find new old stock parts, like a hub, axle caliper etc.
I Bought these from Italy as they were i. Perfect condition and cheap :D

Ok so this is a pair of 04 48mm SX forks I'm converting to fit my 520.

Shame I didn't know about yours as I could have valved and sprung them to suit if they're in good order .

The number in my forks does suggest yours are 2001 but which model bike we don't know, as I mention the shim stacks and springs determine that.

Those are open cartridge forks - the ones you want for an air head build.

Yes but they're likely to have 4.2nm springs and for an airhead you'd need at least 4.8nm I'd have thought.

Agreed - I bought a slightly later set and sent them to MH Racing to re-spring, re-valve etc.

The main benefit is they are very strong and very easy to work on to get right for whatever you need.
