It's is a fine filter, I forget how many microns but I remember John from Rally Raid telling me the early ones on 690s were too fine and would choke the performance on race bikes so were removed.
I think they were later changed to get that balance but of course protect the injector.
Funny how in 21 years with 1150GSs I never had any fueling issues at all.

Just fitted the fuel hose. 15mins job. Lots of room for a filter under the tank. No-brainer.

Apart from KTM profits, the only reason I can think of for the in-tank filter is that one ought to check the integrated pump filter at the same time as changing the in-tank one. I just checked it. 2016 bike it's clean as. Happy days.
