I've ridden extensively throughout Europe on my 2010 GSA and never gave the headlight a moments thought, although I don't normally ride at night when abroad.

When looking for something else just now I just happened to notice in the manual a section for adjusting the headlight for riding on the other side of the road. It says "have the headlight set accordingly by a specialist workshop, preferably an authorised BMW Motorrad dealer".

What is this mysterious adjustment - is it just the horizontal beam adjuster on the top right of the back of the headlamp unit ?

Jean-Pierre and his chums were most unimpressed with my HID setup last time I was on t’other side of the road, got flashed loads by oncoming traffic with dim yellow headlamps who were clearly not happy with Les Motos Anglaise blinding them. Not tried my newfangled Chinky LED job abroad yet but I expect Maurice and Marie-Claire will be just as eager to throw a few pathetic shrugs in my direction……Surly bunch of Gauls.

You're still on the OEM headlamp?

On my 2009 GSA there is no noticeable offset and I’ve had no issues riding on the continent. So long as there is sufficient dip, it’ll be fine.

I have a 2007 GSA, (almost) always point the headlight slightly downwards when traveling to Europe. Never had an issue. No one ever flashed.
I do lift a bit the right spotlight and use them (with no incoming traffic) to have a better view of the right side of the road at night, mostly if driving up mountain roads in the dark – not necessary otherwise.

I miss the old R1100S headlight that could be easily switched from left to right.

It might be that your headlight is just pointed too high.

or you could try The Mask......Smokin'!

Seems Jean-Pierre feels much the same as i do when confronted by an awesome steed festooned with dazzling lights..... of course it could just be it's everybody else that has a problem and not you :D

Be seen, be safe (or some shite like that). :D

My HID's weren't an issue on UK roads in daytime but must have been bright for the frogs due to the dip pattern being wrong.

Indeed. Although in the past with various cars & bikes I've just cut up some black electrical tape and stuck it on the dip section of the lens. Takes about 1 minute and costs about 0.01p :D

Living in europe and having done some research the European and UK headlights are different, I have been looking into bringing my bike to the UK and I do have to change the headlight along with the speedo face

I am happy to swap a 2008 GS UK MPH speedo face for a compatible KMH speedo face. No idea how easy or hard it is to swap these out. Apologies for hijack

I don't think it's that hard seen a few vids online i am quite happy to give it a go, I have ordered an mph/kmh one from Venoxy, so If you are after a kmh only version let me know

I am interested in you KMH clock face. What year bike did it come off and how much do you want to send it to me?

How did you get on with the swap on your bike?

You are unable to receive PM for some reason.
