Ok chaps I've had quite a bit of interest in running trips again in Iceland so if you'd either like to join me or do your own thing then read on :beerjug:

Similar format with two trips, although again some changes to routes from previous years.

Additionally dependent on condition a few alterations, particularly on Trip 1 where we may be able to concentrate a couple of days at a time in the areas where the very best riding is......it'll all become clear :D

Trip 1.
2 weeks, Dates to be confirmed, hopefully to suit those interested but likely to start mid to end of July.
'Generally' smaller bikes ie. single cylinder or 'mid sized adventure bikes' I believe is the trendy name but if you really can ride a twin cylinder bike offroad then we can talk :thumb
I like to keep the group size smallish and manageable for this one so will initially offer it to those who've either been before or have shown interest so good idea to contact me early for this one.

Trip 2
Ten Days, again dates to be confirmed and my preference would be starting latest mid August.
Any size bike will be welcome including those who wish to bring a hardy pillion.
For this trip we WILL concentrate ourselves in the stunning West Fjords with ventures into central Iceland dependant on conditions.

Alternatively I can ship your bike along with ours and you can go off and do your own thing, I'm happy to provide information and advice if you wanted and you'd be welcome to meet up or leave the group at any time to suit.

Both trips are real ones in my eyes ie. camping and carrying your own kit (so please keep it light!!!!) we'll include some wild camps in remote locations.
At the end of each trip you'll need one nights accommodation in Reykjavik as return flights to UK are in the morning, talking of which, flights are generally very cheap.

Iceland has a reputation for being an expensive country, this needn't be the case!! More details on that and how to get the very best out of your trip are best sought by us chatting so your trip can suit your expectations.....these trips will exceed your expectations btw :thumby:

I say the same thing every year but it's worth repeating.
These trips are not an enduro race even though we all enjoy the occasional blast at times, no one should ever feel under pressure to ride outside their comfort zones and as with any trip the most important things are to be safe and have fun, it's a simple formula!
Remember this is a stunningly beautiful country to explore with your bike, tent and good company.

Should anyone want to come and this way of travelling is new to them we can always have a weekend in Wales with bikes, tents and some gentle trails etc. to help find your feet.

I've kept this invitation as brief as I can so for any more information etc please PM me and I'll always be happy to chat on the phone or even meet up to answer any questions.
It's always worth having a look through previous ride reports on UKGSer to gain more insight.

Remember PM me initially for more info:thumb2

Meanwhile I sift through a couple of photos to brighten this page in winter up and to wet your appetite:beerjug:

Would love to do it again Tim, but I’m already going!
Booked a week being a “tourist” with Denise and Talei.

Let me know when.....you definitely won't want to see us on the bikes :D

Au contraire mon ami, or whatever it is in foreign. We would be happy to be “Back-up truck” for you in our rented Landcruiser, but as we are going at the end of March I suspect it will be a tad early for you? :D

For those deciding whether or not to join Tim, do it!! I did it in 2017 and it still makes me smile today.

Loads of interest for the more challenging 'Trip 1' on smaller bikes so can either run one large trip or two smaller ones with the second one favouring bike bikes.

But anyone fancying a 10 day easy going ride in stunning scenery on any size bike that can cope with very simple trails then give me a shout...or a PM :beerjug:

Don't worry when you see pics like this of mine as this is NOT a big bike place :D

Defo tempted to go back, the terrain is excellent , as cheap or expensive as you want to make it
Trip 1 tweaks this year would benefit smaller cubes bikes if more days are spent exploring local trails and leaving camping gear at the site.
Well worth visiting Iceland, the scenery combined with Tim's knowledge of the country and trail network really makes it a great trip.
I've already booked a mountain bike break in France in June , depending on how that goes, if theres space left.... you never know

I'd love to come back again, especially as you've included so many photos of me above. (Subliminal messaging methinks)
Trying to get further afield this year if Bilcos trip goes ahead. If not you never know.

This looks amazing, defiantly on my to do list.

I have 2 bikes so interested in either trip. would love some more details, dates and prices if you have them yet?

PM me please with contact details it's easier to chat. :)

I'm seriously considering pulling the plug on Trip 2, ie. the one for big bikes as there's much dithering going on :D

Re' Trip 1, it's pretty full so if I get a group of others who'd like a Trip 1 type ride then Trip 2 will become Trip 1 (a).....if that makes sense :D :D :beerjug:

In case it makes any difference to anyone, Iceland have removed all covid restrictions - that’s all restrictions including entry, testing, etc. for anyone regardless of vaccination status.

Ah but that makes an assumption I'd want to spend time with anti vaxxers :D

I'm scrapping Trip 2 for this year and running a larger than normal Trip1 which as things stand, is full.
