MS Surface Pro - clip in keyboard

Existing clip in keyboard is toast, so just about to order a new one.

I know it just clips in via a magnetic connection to the tablet part.

My question is.....do I need to do anything specifically to 'activate' the clip in keyboard? I've done the usual Web searches and there's no clear instruction...that I can find.

I believe the tablet recognises the magnetic connection. Just tried it on mine and when you remove the keyboard a message comes up in bottom right corner asking if you want to switch to tablet mode. Similar on reclipping. I suspect that all is needed.
