I have a Zumo 395LM and whenever I go in to the "IMPORT" function of the route option, there is always a load of routes waiting to be imported in. I would like to delete these from the device - and even if I import the routes, they remain in the import area waiting to be imported in again.

Are they files which I can I physically delete via Windows Explorer off of the device itself?

Yes.

I am doing this from memory.

Attach your device to your home computer.

Find the drive for the device and any SD card it might hold.

You’ll find a folder (I think it’s called) titled GPX or something like that. Open the folder up and highlight its contents. Hit delete to move the contents to the bin. On a Mac, you also have to empty the bin or they seem to hop back again.

I know nothing about folders, files and directories and hesitate about touching anything beyond the on-off button but once you have done it once it’s (touchwood) quite safe.

Disconnect the device and they should be gone. If they are not, try closing the device down and restarting it. If they are still there…. Panic!

If you reluctant to go straight to the bin. Highlight the pieces you want to get rid off. Cut them out and paste them to your desktop. You can always then just put them back where they came from.

I remembered I told a friend how to do it.

Here are screen shots.

It’s a Mac but it’ll be pretty much the same on a PC, I guess.

They have all gone, quite safely.

Cheers Wappy, that mostly worked.

I found the GPX folder and nuked the contents (there was a subfolder in there as well, but I was in full Putin mode so it is no more).

I rebooted the device and ... well, 99.99% of the importable routes had gone. There were 2 stubborn cnuts in there.

Looked around the folder structure and found 2 .GPX files in the root of the device for some reason - I killed those and rebooted, and now it's virgin fresh and ready to be deflowered.

Cheers.

EDIT: I just reloaded this thread and saw a ton of screenshots from your Mac. Thanks for the effort.

Jolly good.

Yes, for some unknown reason (at least to me) some GPX routes are pernicious little buggers, which hide in the corners. They require additional bashing.
