If I understand the blurb correctly, this is Tourenfahrer magazine’s go at linking up the ‘Top 40’ passes in Austria.

I lifted it from the magazine’s 2022/4 edition. Download the route etc in the usual way.

Those are some good routes but there are many more further east that should be in the Top 40. Perhaps they mean Top 40 in the Tyrol?

Also, be aware that some roads in Reutte district have noise limits including the Hahntennjoch marked on the map

My R1200RS is within the limit but not my S1000XR, both in standard trim.

Oh, and the museum at the top of the Timmelsjoch that burnt down has reopened. A friend has visited recently as he has been snowboarding in Obergurgl.

Indeed, they probably did. But I think it might be a two or more part article. Not least, there’s not 40 passes shown in the map drawing.

Looks like the Tyroll, some decent passes but not the best part of the Alps - handy for getting out to other bits of Austria and Dolomites though.

And here, for the impatient, is part II of the article, published in this month’s Tourenfahrer magazine:

Stitch them to part 1 and ride the lot.

Download them for a couple of quid each or just use the free detailed map.

Just by tapping on the links, more ideas come up:

Yes, it’s in foreign but you can get the gist of it just from the pictures and some of the blurb. Either way, a map is still a map.
